THE LOVE NOVEL

INSTALLMENT #1:

The radio alarm clock goes off, and blaring out of the speakers comes a DJ yelling about how he despises Crocs. Time to hit snooze.  Ten minutes.  Ten minutes can provide you with the little extra sleep that you need to get through the day or that ten minutes can be used to gently wake you up and slowly begin moving you into your day.  Alicia, not by design, was using those ten minutes to reflect on her life, and in particular the last six months.  She thought to herself that just six short months ago she was waking up next to the two things that meant everything to her, and only one of them still remained.  Six months ago she woke up to the sound of the Chicago streets and not some stranger spewing hatred over a obvious fashion faux-paux.  That's where today was different.  Everybody was a stranger.  Alicia tried to think of today as a new beginning and not a major setback.  "Others have gone through far more difficult times," she thought, as her best friend stood up on the bed shaking off the night.  "Molly, do want your breakfast?"  And like that Molly was off the bed standing next to her bowl.  It's amazing the comfort one can get from their dog and Alicia, recognizing that fact, gave Molly a little extra kibble.  It's a strange feeling moving around in a new place.  Alicia had the same apartment in Chicago for four years.  She loved it.  She even loved the name: Sky 55 at Central Station.  She was five minutes away from the worlds best museums, parks, and her beloved Chicago Cubs.  The extra space for Molly was nice, but when you have lived in apartments all of your adult life a three bedroom house can seem empty.  Again, the alarm goes off.  From the bedroom Alicia can hear the DJ still going on about why Crocs are the end of civilization. As she heads towards the bedroom to turn off her radio alarm she hears the DJ's name is Dan Tooker.  Alicia then thinks to herself "Hello Dan my name is Alicia Webster.......I mean Alicia Patterson it's nice to meet you."

SIGN OUR PETITION!

END ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!

SIGN OUR PETITION HERE

On May 8, 2008 a 9 month old shepherd mix was found near a hops field in Canyon County. The puppy had been beaten and was left for dead.  Its muzzle and front and back legs were bound together with duct tape.  There was also a large amount of blood around the dog’s neck and the back of his head.  The dog was still alive and conscious when it was taken to a clinic, but the injury was so severe that the dog had to be euthanized.

Under the existing Idaho law, even in a horrific case such as this, judges do not have the option of imposing a felony sanction on defendants convicted of animal cruelty.  Tests show that violence towards animals is often linked to violence towards humans including family violence, school shootings, and serial killings. Yet, regardless of the heinous nature of the crime, the penalty for animal cruelty in Idaho is only a misdemeanor.  Idaho is only one of only SIX states in the nation where this is true; forty four other states have felony provisions for animal cruelty. Idaho’s judges and prosecutors should be able to charge and sentence a person under a felony provision if the nature of the defendant's cruelty to an animal warrants such a punishment.
